ANGELA MELICK
I’ve known I wanted to be an engineer since I was very young. Perhaps I didn’t know exactly that what I wanted to be was an "engineer"- but the kind of focused and useful creativity in this career is what I’ve always longed for. When I decided to be an Engineer, I felt set. When I found UBC, I was ecstatic. Now that AOE is a part of my life, I am very close to complete. It’s tough being part of the female minority of Engineers, which is why I’m glad there is a place where I can meet and interact with the other brilliant and fascinating women of my field. I hope that I can give back to this group as much as they’ve given to me.
As for the mundane details of my life, I’ve lived all over this continent: Born in Hong Kong, then California, Montreal (yes I speak French), White Rock, BC, and Allentown, PA before I moved back to the beautiful city of Vancouver for University. I recently completed an 8 month coop term for Sulzer Pumps in Burnaby. In my spare time, I hang out with friends, pursue many artistic ventures (drawing, design, photography) and tend to my fish.
